If you can’t trust yourself, who can you trust?

Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods. It was on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, and a woman was sitting inside—the woman who was killed. She’s been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It’s a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm, and she probably would have been hurt herself if she’d stopped. Not only that, her husband would be furious if he knew she’d broken her promise not to take that shortcut home.

But since then, she’s been forgetting every little thing. Where she left the car; if she took her pills; even the alarm code.

The only thing she can’t forget is that woman, the woman she might have saved, and the terrible nagging guilt.

And the silent calls she’s receiving, or the feeling that someone’s watching her…

You won't be able to put down B. A. Paris's The Breakdown, the next chilling, propulsive novel from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Behind Closed Doors.

  • Big disappointment!

    By Barnbutt
I loved her first book so I was excited to read this one! The premise is ridiculous. The story drags on and on well after I figured out where it was going. It is just silly. The story wraps up without a final confrontation. Almost wonder if this was an earlier book she wrote that wasn’t published because it is stinker and then resurrected after the success of the first one. Hope this author isn’t a one hit wonder because I enjoyed her first novel so much.
  • Good yet predictable

Parts of this book seemed very obvious to me, but the idea of it is just so creepy and intriguing that it pulled me in.
  • Addicting!

    Great read!
  • Tedious

    Tedious. That is all.
  • Not Sure About The Breakdown

    By Dr.Mrs.Afi
This book was good...after reading the first 400 pages. I kept waiting for the shoe to drop. There was too much pretense for too long. When things started coming together clearly, it seemed rushed. Everything fell into place too smoothly; no more mystery. The text messages were too perfect, boring, no suspense. I just wanted to get through them to the good stuff. Behind Closed Doors was far better crafted as a thriller.
  • Totally predictable

Big disappointment- her previous book was so much better.
  • Very Good Read

I read BA Paris' other book, Behind Closed Doors, so when I saw that the author wrote another one I had to read it. It did not disappoint. A real page-turner. I didn't figure what was actually going on until it was on top of me. I usually don't. But I did like how Cass resolved the whole thing. I don't want to give anything away but read this book. You'll be glad you did!
  • Booooring

    By Andrealynnstuartfarris
It started out interesting and then became dreadfully boring and predictable. I skimmed several chapters just so I could see how it ended.
  • Slow and predictable

I really wanted to like this book but storyline was very predictable and pace just too slow. Resolution at end was way too rushed- this book was a let down for me.
  • The Break Down

    By Artymusician
Outstanding book!! I finished in one sitting but admit I had to read ahead to the last 30 pages because I could not stand the suspense! It was such a good book-- I wrote my first book review after reading Behind Closed Doors, and often think of that scary scenario. This was also suspenseful and thrilling. Greed and feelings of entitlement cause all kinds of suffering and emotional turmoil! The moral of this story seems to be "don't tell anyone" about your finances and inheritances!!
